DIRECTOR STATEMENT
This film is a personal passion project, inspired by the nostalgia of the 1980s and the desire to tell a heartfelt story about family and connection.
Casey, a young teenage girl is left to spend the summer with her grandparents in an unfamiliar small town. Like many of us at that age, Casey feels disconnected and lost—surrounded by dysfunction at home, unsure of herself, and struggling to find her place. Her solace comes through something seemingly simple: making a mixtape.
Inspired by the feel-good nature of John Hughes’ films, and set in a simpler time without the distractions of the Internet or smartphones, this movie is about finding happiness in unexpected places. It’s a reminder that no matter the challenges, love, family and of course rock ‘n’ roll can always bring us together.
